Crystal became a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer back in 2011. When Voices for Children took over Riverside County’s CASA program in 2015, CASA Crystal stayed on board, and we couldn’t be more grateful! Since then, she has served eight youth in local foster care and shows no signs of slowing down.
CASA Crystal is currently matched with a sibling set. In addition to advocating for the brothers in court and ensuring all their needs are met, CASA Crystal continues to help the boys learn about their culture as they live in a home with caregivers of a different ethnicity. The case hasn’t always been easy, but CASA Crystal has handled challenges tactfully and professionally. Her case children love meeting with her and often ask when they’ll get to see her again.
With CASA Crystal’s support, the brothers are now in the process of being adopted. As the case winds down, CASA Crystal offered to take on a second case from our waitlist. She has also gone above and beyond by helping spread the word about our CASA program at community Juneteenth events. For these reasons and more, we are thrilled to recognize CASA Crystal as our December 2022 CASA of the Month!

Favorite part of being a CASA: I love getting to know my kids, getting familiar with their situation, and using the skills I have been taught to help them. I have learned something from every case, and each child will be in my heart forever.
You, too, can make a difference in the life of youth in foster care. Learn more about becoming a CASA volunteer.
