Steak 48 and Del Mar Highlands Town Center raise over $104,000
for Voices for Children

Donation will provide critical advocacy to thousands of children in San Diego County foster care through the nonprofit’s Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Program

(October 18, 2023) SAN DIEGO – On Friday, Oct. 6, Steak 48 hosted a private pre-opening dining experience at Del Mar Highlands Town Center to benefit local nonprofit, Voices for Children (VFC). The pre-dining experience at Steak 48 raised over $29,000 and Del Mar Highlands Town Center donated an additional $75,000 on top of the evening’s charity patronage.

Together, Del Mar Highlands Town Center and Steak 48 raised more than $104,000 for VFC and its Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. CASAs are community volunteers of all backgrounds who make a commitment to advocate for the needs of the child or sibling group with whom they are matched. A CASA gets to know a child’s situation, communicates with professionals on the case, and makes sure the child’s needs are being met. Over time, a CASA often becomes the most consistent person in a child’s life. At regular court hearings required for all children in foster care, CASAs report on the children’s progress and needs, which is essential for judges to make the best decisions for their futures.

The funds raised will allow VFC to provide CASA volunteers to abused, neglected, and abandoned children in foster care, helping ensure their voices are heard. Last year, VFC supported over 900 CASAs and provided life-changing advocacy to more than 1,800 children living in foster care in San Diego County.

Steak 48 generously hosted the evening as part of a grand opening rollout; all attendees were able to dine and enjoy the extraordinary experience that is Steak 48. Attendees were welcome to donate any amount they wished to Voices for Children. 100% of all donations went directly to Voices for Children.
