Congratulations to our Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) of the Month, Robin! Through individualized advocacy, this devoted volunteer has made a meaningful difference on the youth in each case she has been assigned:
- CASA Robin advocated for siblings and helped as they reunified with their mother. Unfortunately, the family experienced difficulties, and the children returned to foster care. Robin continued to be there for the siblings and offer non-judgmental support to their mother. They reunified for a second time and are excelling as a family unit today.
- CASA Robin accepted the case of a non-minor dependent (NMD) even though she had never worked with older youth before. In her advocacy, Robin saw the young man through many housing changes, rehabilitation placements, and even homelessness. Today at age 22, he still relies on Robin for advice and to simply know he has a friend.
- CASA Robin advocated for another set of siblings due to reunify with their parents. The reunification was not successful, and Robin worked extra hard to help the children regain confidence and begin to enjoy their childhood.

Favorite thing about being a CASA: “All the wonderful people I meet. In addition to the kids, there are social workers, caregivers, attorneys, supervisors, and my fellow CASAs. So many people all working toward making a difficult situation better for children.”
Advice for new CASAs: “Know that you really are having a profound effect on the lives of these kids. It is like planting the seed of a large tree. You may not see the end result, but you are part of the nourishing that helps the growth.”
